Growing up preparations
Growing up an Ascalabote is optional. An adult Ascalabote can learn more skills or mana, get carriers and breed!
The requirements to grow up:

A growth elixir will bypass ALL requirements
Growing up is not reversible
Beginning
Bee has gotten some baby mutations and is ready to grow up!
To grow up she must be at least 1 month old and it looks like she is!
You also need 3 drawings or stories that include the character and are worth at least 4 Lunae.

Adult appearance
Deciding a weight class
What is a weight class?
A weight class is a bit like the body type of the Ascalabote. There is a lot of variation within the classes so you can have a short, skinny heavyweight or a large, tall lightweight, though even the tallest lightweight will still not be much taller then a heavyweight. This can also be changed later on.
The weight class of an Ascalabote will impact the species of your character's offspring, a heavyweight is more likely to produce an Arctic Ascalabote in breeding, a lightweight may produce a Sea Ascalabote and so on.
It will also give benefits for careers and skills, making some easier while others harder.

Standard Ascalabotes have three weight classes they can grow into
Things of note about standard weight classes;
- All adults have claws to begin with, where the claws are is determined by the weight class. If a character has the "baby claw" mutation, that overrides the base claws.
- Everything can be changed later on (Weight class, claw type, etc)
- You do not need to follow the images exactly, as said above there are lots of variation within the weight classes
Lightweight
The leanest and shortest of all the weight classes. Lightweights are known for having a long neck, legs, and tail and a thin body.
Lightweights tend to be nimble and good at climbing or running but may struggle in a fight due to their fragile form. Lightweights only have small claws on their hind feet.

Midweight
A midweight is the most direct from a pup's appearance. They have similar proportions but are often slightly skinnier than a pup.
A "jack-of-all-trades" body form, the midweight is often the hunter of the group. Lean enough to chase down even the fastest prey but stocky enough to take a hit without a flinch. A midweight has small claws on all four paws.
|
Heavyweight
As their name suggests, heavyweights are the bruisers of the Ascalabote weight class. They are large and strong, the tallest of all three types despite their short legs, tail, and neck.
Heavyweights are strong, they are good in fights and can carry quite a bit more then any other weight class and are often bodyguards or warriors. Heavyweights have large, thick claws on all four of their paws

Sexual dimorphism
While standard Ascalabotes do at first have a sexual dimorphism, this can be changed very easily as the back fuzz on a male is just a "free" mutation and so can be removed with the mutation remodel or added to a female.
Unless "back fuzz" is already applied to the character, their approvals must show the variation associated with their biological sex.
Lore wise, it is a layover from their past and they can just as easily change it or keep it despite not identifying with the sex the dimorphism implies.

Additional
An adult Ascalabote can have between 1 to 4 visible teeth. These can either be on their upper jaw (Pointing downwards) or their lower jaw (pointing upwards). At first all teeth must be pointing in the same direction and are mirrored on the other side (You can't have two teeth on one side and four on the other)
New colors
Scale and fuzz colors
Here is the gradients for legal adult colors.
Just like with the pups, we also have premade templates with the four combinations of colors you can have
Placements
The placement colors and location should not change when your character grows up. They can get larger to fit the new body but should still be recognizable as the placements from the pup.
Some of the placements like the leg outlines can change slightly since the legs no longer have fuzz for the placement to sit on it will go all the way down the leg.
The claws on the adult can be their placement color, eye color, or pure black. When first applied all claws must be the same color.

Teenager phase
If you do not want to jump immediately from pup to adult, your character can go through a teenage phase. In standard Ascalabotes their growth is characterized by their colors changing and their fuzz shrinking to where it will be as an adult.
In this phase of life, a character can still have mutations from the baby or teen mutations but they are not yet ready for adult mutations.

- An Ascalabote must have an adult approval to go into their teenage phase, though they can start showing signs of it before hand as long as there isn't a dramatic change in color or size.
- The teenager should be a mix of both the baby and adult colors, for Bee this is her adult scale and fuzz colors with her baby colors at 50% opacity over them
- Teens cannot breed
- Teens can start learning adult skills
Submitting
Now you are almost ready to submit your character's adult approval!
- Just like with the baby approval, do not add anything else in the box. A small image to show something that might be hidden (inside of mouth, paw pads, etc) is okay but it should only be the character.
- Do not apply any mutations on the character during the approval, even baby mutations.
- Make sure the colors in the boxes match the colors on the character.
When you are ready, copy and paste this form in the description of your approval and submit it to any of the channels listed in the approval hub!
