How to breed ascalabotes
- 1 litter can be kept for free regardless of how many pups are in it
- If all the pups are given away, this remains available
- If the litter is split between both parents, then the free littler slot will be used up for both of them
- To keep another litter of pups, you need a litter parchment which is available at the store
- You do not need a litter parchment to breed your Ascalabotes but any litter produced without an open slot will be donated to the Amissa to be adopted out
- Two Ascalabotes at least 4 months old
- The Ascalabotes must be biologically male and female
- Both Ascalabotes should have finished their cool-down
- You do not need to own the two Ascalabotes breeding but you must get permission to breed the Ascalabotes! (They can react to the Discord message or note the group to approve of their character being used)
- Three drawings/stories are required for the use of an official povor/ovaterm
- Each story/drawing must be worth at least 8 Lunae (This equals to two full body drawings or a story with two characters and a word cout of 400)

Breeding additions
Baby shower basket
A bonus item from the store that gives the parent of the litter almost complete control over the outcome of the breeding that comes with the following abilities.
![]() Loaded dice - All the pups will inherit the mutations of your choice (The parents still need to have the mutation but this will guarantee pups having that mutation and cannot be a mutation that does not pass down)
Can be used to receive up to 5 mutations. ![]() Best Wishes - Increase and decrease the potential for wanted and unwanted genetic mutations.
(If you want specific GMs then they will have the same chance to appear as if a parent had them and decreasing the chance to zero for the unwanted ones) ![]() Sprinkles - The parent of the litter can chose the colors that are passed down to the pups. The colors must still be from related Ascalabotes
![]() An Ileara guess - The parent of the litter can chose how many pups are born. Max of 8

povor/ovaterm
A povor/ovaterm are surrogate partners used for breeding. They are other artists' characters but when used as a povor or ovaterm they act as an NPC.
Povors and ovaterms do not have a cool-down and can be used at any time regardless of when they were last bred.
Being a povor/ovaterm does not affect the Ascalabote for the artist. Think of it as two different characters, the povor/ovaterm character is more of an NPC based on the character and the artist has the original character. This means that for the purpose of breeding if a povor/ovaterm was used the character does not have a cool-down from it and the artist can breed the Ascalabote again however if the Ascalabote is bred as a parent and not a surrogate then the cool-down applies.
When using a povor/ovaterm there is an additional drawing/story that must be done before the breeding and it should include the povor/ovaterm and the other parent.

Other additions
Breeding drawings/stories
If using a povor/ovaterm for the breeding there are three stories/drawings required
The stories/drawings can be anything as long as the Ascalabotes are obviously interacting in a PG-13 manor.

The stories/drawings must be worth at least 8 Lunae (This equals to two full body drawings or a story with two characters and a word out of 400)
You can do a mix of stories and drawings, you do not have to stick to just one form of art!

If not using a povor/ovaterm, drawings are no necessary but do increase the chance of higher tier mutation.
Reletives
A litter can have inherited colors from both maternal and paternal grandparents or great grandparents, and skills or mutations from grandparents
MYOs can have personal NPC parents that are used in breedings but Ascalabotes that have come from a breeding must keep their official parents.
Personal NPC grandparents
To keep people from using this to game the system to get rare mutations or higher skills here are some things to keep in mind when creating a personal NPC
- NPCs must have a reference sheet
- NPCs cannot have any special mutations
- NPCs cannot have more then 15 mutations
- NPCs can have a total of 5 skills
In order to use a personal NPC you must also draw or write the NPC interacting with their family at least once and it should be a piece worth 3 Lunae

Missing Something?
This do not apply for bred Ascalabotes
If your Ascalabote transferred into the group as an adult or was a MYO/Adopt with a mutation that locks one or more of their colors (such as Pruilbus), then you can chose those colors for your Ascalabote.
If your Ascalabote transferred into the group as an adult or was a MYO/Adopt with a mutation that locks one or more of their colors (such as Pruilbus), then you can chose those colors for your Ascalabote.
- When choosing baby fuzz/scale colors they must be from the premade pallets (This makes it easier to grab colors and all you have to do is mention the pallet number somewhere in the submission)
- If the Ascalabote has Pruilbus (or any similar mutation) you can chose the eye color that will be passed down
Ascalabote genetics and genomes
While genetics plays a major role in breeding, genomes aren't necessary. To learn how breeding works or how to make your own genome for fun, follow the link bellow.
Breeding chances
Litter size
Depending on the species of the mother depends on how many pups can be in a littler.
The species of the father and of the litter does not change the litter size
Standard Ascalabotes can have between 1-8 pups
Rainbow Ascalabotes can between 1-6 beams
Tree Ascalabotes can have between 1-4 sprouts
Sea Ascalabotes can have between 1-3 nymphs
Arctic Ascalabotes can have between 1-2 nips
Rainbow Ascalabotes can between 1-6 beams

Sea Ascalabotes can have between 1-3 nymphs
Arctic Ascalabotes can have between 1-2 nips
Predicting Ascalabote species
Even if both parents are standard Ascalabotes there is a chance for them to produce any of the five species. This is mostly determined by the mutations the pup is rolled with.
Species mutations
For this to happen the pup must be rolled with more positive mutations then negative mutations. So a pup with 6 mutations and 3 of them are positive for Arctic Ascalabotes and 3 are negative for Arctic Ascalabotes will end up as a standard because the mutations cancel out but if 4 are positive and 2 are negative then it will be born an Arctic Ascalabote.
If a litter is from parents of two different species then the pups have a 50/50 chance of either species regardless of mutations (however another species may come from the mutations)
|
Seasonal species effect
Seasons do have a slight impact on what kind of species may be bred, this means for the example above in the frost season the pup rolled with 3 positive and 3 negative mutations would be born an Arctic Ascalabote
What species of Ascalabote is more likely for each season
Seasons do not affect standard Ascalabotes

Skills
If one of the parents is knowledgeable or a master in a skill it has a chance of being passed down to their offspring.
Skills inherited by pups will always be bellow 50% and are optional.
Skills inherited by pups will always be bellow 50% and are optional.
Any skill can be passed down with the same frequency
Mana
Mana is passed down based on the parent's natural mana. A pup will be more likely to inherit one of their parent's natural manas as their own however they might not and be able to develop their own mana without any connection to their parents.
In rare occasions a pup may inherit both of their parent's natural mana and be able to preform both of them equally. This may also lead to a new type of mana
(If the parents have fire and water mana, the pups may be able to use both manas but if the parents have land and air mana the pups may have weather mana instead)
(If the parents have fire and water mana, the pups may be able to use both manas but if the parents have land and air mana the pups may have weather mana instead)
hybrid heads
There is a 1/75 chance a pup is born with a hybrid head, these heads are a mix of traits from two of the pup's relatives heads. It is very open ended and the heads can have many appearances.
In the lore the dinosaur head started as a hybrid head, it's a mix of the reptile and mammal head but it became more common and is now seen very frequently.
Here are some examples of what hybrid heads can look like
|
hybrids
Even more rare then a hybrid head is a hybrid Ascalabote. These Ascalabotes can only be bred from two parents of different species and even then there is only a 1/100 chance for one of occur.
Hybrids take after both species, for example they could have the color pallets of one species and the height of another. Feel free to be creative with how the two species mix!
The example below is of an Arctic and Standard paring, the two pups are hybrids. The taller one has the Arctic base colors but is roughly a standard pup's height and the pup has some features of an Arctic Ascalabote such as a shorter tail and more fuzz. The shorter pup has the Standard's baby colors and close to the height of an Arctic nip though it is slightly taller and has standard Ascalabote features.
|
Genetic Mutations
There is a chance a pup will be rolled with a genetic mutations, mild mutations have a 1/30 chance of appearing and a sever mutation has a 1/100 chance of appearing.
If a parent has a genetic mutation then the chances are increased to 3/10 and 3/50 but only for that specific mutation.
If a grandparent has a genetic mutation the chances are increased to 1/15 and 1/75 for that specific mutation
Inverted colors, while a genetic mutations occurs at random due to differences between the parent's colors. Parents with contrasting colors have a higher chance of their pups having inverted colors.
miscarriage
A miscarriage is very rare and will only happen if there is more then one pup in a littler. It has a 1/200 chance of happening but the chance will increase with some severe genetic mutations.
Cool-downs
All Ascalabotes have a cool-down between each breeding though the time between each litter varies between species.
An Ascalabote must be finished with their cool-down in order to breed again
Povors/ovaterms do not have cool-downs

Trading/adopting
As long as the Ascalabote does not have an approval in the group, it is considered an item.
The pups can be traded to other artists, gifted to friends, or traded to Nundince Nundince will trade the pre-made pallet and the mutation list to another artist. |
Breeding without an open slot
You can still breed Ascalabotes even if you have already used your free slot and have not purchased a breeding parchment. However the litter rolled will be put up for the community to adopt.

Aberelconito pups
Aberelconito pups are Ascalabotes who where born to a family where they are not supposed to have any and so are hidden from the clan until they are old enough to take care of themselves.
An Ascalabote who has aberelconito pups in a career that doesn’t let them have pups can still go on career events and participate in the group as if they didn’t have pups

species requirements
With the exception of standard Ascalabotes and hybrids, all Ascalabote species must have a drawing or story done of the litter as a whole before the litter can be submitted to the group.
The drawing/story must be worth at least 3 Lunae

Rainbow Ascalabotes
Rainbow litters must have a drawing/story about an adult taking care of the eggs
Arctic Ascalabotes
Arctic litters must have a drawing/story about the litter in the snow
|
Sea Ascalabotes
Sea litters must have a drawing/story about their eggs in the water
Tree Ascalabotes
Tree litters must have a drawing/story about the litter in the forest

Submitting the litter
- A litter has to be at least one month old before they can be approved
- Follow all the MYO rules when designing the pups.
- Make sure all mutations are visible in the approval.
Feel free to include these free line art bases to show placements and markings without any mutations
|
- The entire litter can be submitted at the same time but each one should be on a separate comment in the journal.
- If a Povor/Ovaterm was used, add them as a parent, you can add the other parent who is not their biological parent if you want.
- You do not need to keep all the skills or mutations the pups were rolled with, however if you do not include them in the application they cannot be added later on for free (you’ll have to obtain them normally)
- Genetic Mutations are not optional and if the pup is rolled with one, they must have it in their approval (Even if it’s one that can be cured later on)
- The litter number is up to you, it is the birth order of the pups. (So if the pup was born 2nd out of 5, it would have a litter number of 2)

Q&A
Do I have to keep the pups?
Nope! You can keep as many pups as you want. You can give unwanted pups to the Amissa to be adopted by others or trade them to Nundince (Typically these pups will be put back up for adoption through trade). You can also trade/gift unapproved pups to other artists
