Lunae (lun-ah) are small, black rocks with a smooth texture. They can range in shape but are always never larger then a few inches (~6 inches/15cm max). There are small white crystals impeded in the rock that reflect a prism of light. Lunae are a popular collectable due to their rarity on the surface of Senluna and their mythology that ties them into increased mutations in Ascalabotes.
In the group, Lunae are earned through drawing or writing your characters, they will help you track your progress in the group!
Many mutations require a specific amount of Lunae to be applied. Lunae do not deplete when you add mutations to your character!

You will lose 3 Lunae upon completing the "Overcharged Lunae" quest. This is the only time that you will lose Lunae.
Everyone will automatically start out with 4 Lunae as that is how much a character approval is worth.
Tallying Lunae is based on the honor system and you are expected to keep track of how much you have earned. If you are not confident with your math skills or just find it useful, there is a Lunae tracker you can use.
This tracker is optional and you can always keep track of your Lunae amount on your own. A tracker is however necessary for the character trackers to work properly.
Make sure you keep track of your lunae! You will get rewards for reaching certain milestones!
How to count Lunae
Ascalabotes is unique in the evolving species space as stories are just as accepted as drawings. This means that with the exceptions of the approvals, you can do only stories of your characters and still get Lunae!
Counting drawings
Sketches = 2 Lunae
Colored art = 3 Lunae
Polished* = 4 Lunae
* Polished drawings are fully shaded and colored with a background and foreground
Including animation = 5 Lunae

Counting writing
Every 100 words in a story is 1 Lunae. A story of 500 words would equal 5 Lunae.
Drawings added to writing will also count to the Lunae count at the same value as they would on their own.

Counting characters
These can be included in both writing and drawing!
Every character added = +1 Lunae for each character
Including a character that is not your own (A "gift" character) = 2 Lunae
This includes NPCs

Things to keep in mind when counting Lunae
- Traced or stolen art cannot earn Lunae and cannot be submitted to the group. Stealing art is likely to get you banned
- Reused lineart doesn't count to new Lunea
- "Text speak" stories cannot earn Lunae, however they can be included with a drawing
- Paid commissions don't count to Lunae
